Hi, Tara!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
That is an excellent question, as well as a tricky one! You would probably get 20 different answers if you asked this question 20 times, but I'll try to help you so that you can find the perfect option and come back with your
next question. I have a few different "Theme Park backpacks," but they all share some common traits.
They're all light. Since you will be carrying water, snacks, sunscreen, and more, you can't be pulling the weight of a heavy backpack. That's why I avoid materials like cotton or leather, favoring lightweight materials.
All of my Theme Park backpacks are also synthetic, built with fast-drying materials. You may get a few splashes on your bag, especially if you intend to enjoy
Splash Mountain, for example. And while you can always wrap it in a poncho, it's still good to know it will dry fast
if it gets wet.
It's also convenient to have a backpack that has an external pocket for water so that you don't have to open it every time you need your bottle (and believe me, you will need it very often)!
Finally, it's essential to be aware of the straps. It may sound like a weird concern, but bad straps can ruin a great backpack. You will walk many miles per day at the
Walt Disney World Resort, and you will often do so under the sun. Your chosen bag must have broad, comfortable, and breathable straps. I made the mistake of hitting the Theme Parks with a backpack that had thin leather straps once, and I was pretty sore by the end of the day.
I hope that these guidelines help you find
your perfect backpack for the Walt Disney World Resort, Tara!
Shop Disney has very nice options, like this
Enchanted Tiki Room Backpack. Isn't it lovely?
As more questions come up, please, don't hesitate to come back. We're always here to share advice!
May the magic be with you,
Julie
