Hi Stephanie!
Florida weather can often be a bit unpredictable despite its nickname “The Sunshine State.” Some people are bummed out by the rainy days but my family can soak up a rainy day just like we can soak up a sunny day! Often when it rains you will notice a lot of guests leaving the parks which in turn makes lines shorter for those of us brave enough to face the rain!
First come prepared. Crocs or flip flops are the perfect accessories for walking through the parks during a rain storm. Make sure to bring or purchase a poncho and think about renting a locker to store dry clothes. If you are traveling with a stroller look into a rain cover to fit over the stroller so that it will stay dry. My family usually does try to stick it out in the parks unless it is lightning.
If we decide against the parks during the storm it is a great time to explore the Resort hotels! We love riding the
Resort Monorail loop and exploring the resort hotels on this loop. There are some great shops and food options! There are also a lot of great arcades at the Resort hotels. Often we travel to
Disney Springs to explore as well. Even though you will have to walk outdoors to get from shop to shop there are so many great shopping options. At some point you will have to eat and rainy days are a great excuse to enjoy a nice Table-Service restaurant. Even if you don’t have a dining reservation you may be able to walk up and find a table!
Lastly do you remember being a kid and puddle jumping? Imagine puddle jumping in front of Cinderella Castle! Now show your kids how it’s done! My kids love it most when I am silly right alongside them! All that it takes is a little imagination to make a rainy day memorable!
