Where is the best place to watch the illuminations show? If the show starts at 9 what time should I make my dinner reservations to make sure I have a seat?

Kelly, you are asking about my absolute favorite fireworks/laser show at Walt Disney World!  I have seen it since it began right before the millennium and never miss it for at least one night during any stay we have there!

There are many great locations to watch this show around the lagoon.  I love Italy as it is wide open with no trees to block your view.  I also find the bridge between France and the United Kingdom to be a good spot but it does fill up quickly with guests. We love to use this location if we are staying in the Boardwalk area so we don't have to fight the traffic of guests leaving the park when the show is finished.  If you are needing to catch Disney busses back to your resort a good spot is between or around the two shops at the beginning of the World Showcase loop.

With all those suggestions given here is the most important one.....be aware of the wind!  Try to watch and see what direction the wind will be blowing that night.  You will want to stay away from any area where the wind is blowing directly towards as you will miss a lot of the show because of the smokey residue and might even get ashes blown into your face. It is worth the extra walk to be out of the wind then to stick in a spot because of convenience.

I would make your dining reservations around 6/6:30pm. That will give you time to have your meal in a quiet and stress free fashion and still be out to find your spot for the show. You can walk and browse the World Showcase countries if you find you have a little extra time.

Be sure and listen to the words as you watch the show. The messages in the music are memorable and the scenes on the globe will be showing you the progress of our world through the ice ages to present. It is quite extraordinary and I never tire of seeing it!
