Where is the best place to view a shuttle launch within the Disney parks? Does Disney do anything special to recognize the launch? Thanks

    Hi Rebecca!

My son and I got to see the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery in the Magic Kingdom at the end of February 2011 and it was awesome.  So I know of two really great places to see a Shuttle Launch in two of the four Theme Parks of Walt Disney World.  The first is in the Magic Kingdom and it is in Tomorrowland.  The Space Shuttle blasts off right over Space Mountain and beautifully arcs to the left away from Space Mountain.  The second is in Epcot right over Mission Space!  It is so cool that you can view the Space Shuttle over two awesome rides that are about Space!  I have heard that you can see the Space Shuttle launch at Hollywood Studios over the Fantasmic Stage, but I have not personally witnessed it there.  I am not sure about Animal Kingdom.  I have also seen a night Space Shuttle launch from the Pop Century Resort, right over the Food Court from the 60's area.  Keep in mind that you will see a small smoke trail because the Space Shuttle launch happens at the Kennedy Space Center which is far away from Walt Disney World.  If you want more Space Shuttle viewing locations you can ask a direct question to my fellow Mom/Dad Bernie because he actually works for NASA and he loves everything Space!

I hope that you are able to view the Space Shuttle launch from the most magical place in the world!
