Hello Holly! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
My most recent visit to Walt Disney World Resort included a stay at
Disney Coronado Springs Resort. The sprawling Spanish Colonial grounds were a wonderful impromptu location to run a 1/2 Marathon after the 2017 Walt Disney World Resort 1/2 Marathon was canceled due to weather.
As far as the "best" place to stay at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, it all depends in your family's priorities. For my recommendations, I will describe what works and what doesn't for the 3 different sections of the Resort and recommend specific buildings that I find particularly appealing.
When we visited, my wife and I stayed in building 9A of the Cabanas section. I chose this building specifically because of it's equal distance between the Lost City of Cibola Pool Area and El Centro (the main building). In my opinion, this building offers the closest and quietest rooms to all major centers of attention (including bus transportation) while remaining relatively quiet.
On the opposite side of Lago Dorado (lake in the middle) is the Casitas Section. Many friends have argued that they like the Casitas section of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort the most, but I find that it offers the same benefits as Cabanas with a livelier (and louder) atmosphere. Building 4 is the closest to the action that offers Standard rooms.
The Ranchos Section is furthest from the Main Building but boasts being adjacent to the Pool Area. However, the closest building to the Pool Area is still in the Cabanas section (Building 8A).
