Hi Heidi,
My husband and I went to Walt Disney World frequently before we had children! Like you, we consider ourselves to be foodies. All of the options I will offer include Disney Vacation Club properties as well as Walt Disney World resort hotels.
First, consider
Disney's BoardWalk area, around which you can find Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, as well as the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels. These resort hotels are all located around Crescent Lake. I love this area so much that Disney's BoardWalk Villas is my home resort with Disney Vacation Club! There is so much to do in terms of dining and entertainment in this area. You can have a great evening at Jellyrolls dueling piano bar, or sitting outside on Disney's BoardWalk with a wonderful cocktail from Abracadabar. This resort area is also walking distance to Epcot, which opens up a whole world of dining options around World Showcase.
Another great option would be
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. This lovely resort is themed as an upstate New York resort from the late 19th century. For your situation, the great thing about this resort is its proximity to
Disney Springs, which you can get to by boat or walking from this resort. Disney Springs is Walt Disney World's newly re-imagined dining, shopping and entertainment district. Some of my favorite restaurants here include Morimoto Asia, for delicious Pan-Asian cuisine, and Chef Art Smith's Homecomin', for down-home delicious Florida fare. At Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, the Congress Park section is the closest to Disney Springs for the quickest walk.
I hope these thoughts are helpful for you, Heidi!
