What is the best payment to use for Lightning lanes? If I add my gift card (virtual) to my Apple Wallet, can I use that or is a general gift card better to use?

Hi there, Gae Lynn, and welcome to planDisney!

Oh boy! I love using Disney Gift Cards during my visits to Walt Disney World Resort, too. They’re easy to use, keep me on track (those tasty DOLE Whips add up), and can be combined with other Disney Gift Cards. I am more than happy to help you with how to use them when making a Lightning Lane Pass purchase.

Lightning Lanes are the fastest way to access your favorite attractions at the Disney Parks. Instead of waiting in the standby queues, you can zip your way through and be on and off of a ride in significantly less time. You can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Passes and Single Passes before your magical adventure begins. Super planners around the world are definitely rejoicing.

If you’re staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel or another eligible hotel, you can make your Lightning Lane purchases as early as 7 days before your arrival. If you’re staying off property and have theme park tickets (reserved for a certain theme park), you can start the experience selection process up to 3 days early.

In your My Disney Experience App on your device, go through the steps to purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Single Pass. When you’re done making your selections (I love that you can choose your attractions and return time windows before you commit with your wallet), the app will take you to a screen for payment.

The debit or credit card that you have set up in your My Disney Experience account as your default will appear. But Hakuna Matata—that means “no worries.” You can then use another method of payment. Some of your options include a Disney Gift Card, Apple Pay, or another debit or credit card. So, you have all power in your hands when it comes to choosing how you want to pay for your Lightning Lane Passes. In my opinion, no one method is better than another. Just use what you feel most comfortable using.

AN EXTRA GEM: I like to save my Disney Gift Card’s information in my Notes app in my cell phone for easy access when I’m at the Disney Parks and making purchases in My Disney Experience App. Because you can’t save the information in the app, I simply copy and paste from my notes and into the other app.

I hope that this helps, Gae Lynn! If you need any other answers before, during, or after your vacation, revisit us here at planDisney. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
