best way to pay for meals when not on the dining plan? Is it best to just charge meals/snacks to my credit card on file, or get a Disney gift card to cover the cost of meals?

    Hi Lisa!

One of my favorite parts of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is the incredible food at all of the theme parks, Disney Resorts and Disney Springs! In fact, my girlfriends and I generally keep a spreadsheet of our "must-do" meals and snacks as we plan our vacations!

If you won't be using one of the dining plans during your vacation, you have quite a few options to pay for your meals. The restaurants throughout Walt Disney World Resort accept Disney Gift Cards and that's a really convenient way to pay for your meals. Since you're staying at one of the Disney Resort hotels, you also have the option of using your MagicBand to charge your meals to your room account. I always think it's easiest to pay using my MagicBand because I don't have to worry about retrieving a payment method from my backpack.

I often use Disney Gift Cards when I visit Walt Disney World Resort to pay for many of my vacation expenses, including dining, and I think the easiest thing to do is to charge your meals to your room account using your MagicBand and then use your Disney Gift Cards to pay for your room account, which you can do by simply visiting the front desk of your Disney Resort hotel throughout your vacation. This allows you to take advantage of your MagicBand throughout your vacation, which is so convenient, while using Disney Gift Cards is a great way to pay for vacation expenses in advance!
