What is best to do on the 4th July weekend at or around Disney. Have a young family so concerned about how busy it will be in the day and night. Is there anything I need to do to make it special, traveling from the UK and assuming it will be a mad weekend

    Hello Martin,
Wow what magical timing you have to be visiting Walt Disney World Resort with your young family during such an important date on every American's calendar; Independence Day.
You are quite right in assuming the Disney Parks can be extra busy during this peak holiday period much like when we Brits enjoy our Bank Holiday getaways over here in the UK.  However with a little thoughtful planning your dear family should be able to join in with all the patriotic Stars and Stripes fun.
Because the 4th of July 2015 celebrations at Walt Disney World Resort have not yet been released I can only speculate using last years program of events as a guide.  Be sure to keep an eye on The Disney Parks Blog or Disney.go.com for future announcements.
Last year in 2014 the Magic Kingdom Park put on Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky; now how utterly unmissable does that look?!
I suggest arriving early at your chosen Disney Park, perhaps taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours which are available to all Guests staying in Walt Disney World owned and operated Resorts and maybe returning to your Resort to take a nap during the hot afternoon hours. Plan to head back to the Disney Park of your choice all refreshed and ready to watch what is sure to be the most spectacular fireworks display you've ever seen!
If I can help sprinkle any extra pixie dust onto your summer 2015 holiday to Walt Disney World Resort please pop back to ask me another question.
