What is the best hotel to stay at with an 8 year old girl? I will be using the disney transportation services and am worried about long bus rides. I want to be able to get to the parks easily

    Amber:

The best-themed resorts for an 8-year-old girl are either Art of Animation and its Little Mermaid rooms  or Port Orleans: Riverside's Royal Rooms fit for a princess. However, both only offer bus transportation to the parks and POR has multiple bus stops on its route. (I have found that what Disney loses in proximity to the theme parks, they make up for it in theming in their resorts...) If you're willing to consider a few resorts that are tame in themes to gain quicker access to the parks consider these:

    • Beach Club: For boat and walking access to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, this is your top choice. Make time to enjoy its pool complex along with an over-the-top dessert at Beaches &
Cream or a breakfast with Minnie and the gang at Cape May Café.
    • Grand Floridian: If your daughter is a girly-girl, this is my #1 pick for her. The resort takes you back in time and you feel like Mary Poppins is going to turn the corner at any moment. Treat her to tea or splurge on the Perfectly Princess Tea Party. Best of all, you're one monorail stop away from the Magic Kingdom.
    • Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge: If your daughter is an animal or nature lover, consider these. They are more economical than BC or GF and Wilderness Lodge is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. AKL only offers bus transportation to the parks but it only shares one stop with the Animal Kingdom Villas. Most families who stay here find the views of the Savannah once they return to their room more than make up for the bus journeys.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
