What is the best way was to get some healthy snacks for our kids. We would like to buy some blueberries, carrots, bottled water, etc. to bring to the parks in little coolers and cereals and milk for the room. Can we buy these at our resort (Animal Kingdom

    Hi Tammy:

Visiting Disney World doesn't mean you can't enjoy healthy snacks and meals.  Disney has established food guidelines to promote healthy and well-balanced standard offerings for children and has cut the use of trans fats in its food offerings. Parents have a lot more say in what they feed their children.

One of your best bets for finding fresh fruit is in the Parks. Every Disney Park has at least one stand or location where you can purchase fresh fruit. Just check your park map for a location of the fruit stand.  You can grab water in the Parks or your Resort.  You can purchase milk and cereal in the Marketplace in Animal Kingdom Lodge and even find some fruit and cereal selections in the Quick Service restaurant.

Also, eating at a Disney counter-service location doesn’t mean your family has to eat unhealthily. In addition to traditional park fare such as great burgers, chicken fingers, and french fries, we’ve also found that counter-service locations have added more soups, salads, and wraps as well as more vegetarian options to their menus. Kids can also order healthy foods such as baby carrots, fresh fruit, and applesauce as side items as well as enjoy low-fat milk, juice, or water to drink.

    Enjoy your vacation.
