What is best way to experience rope drop ceremony? Planning CP on morning of MK visit, book for after rope drop or eat and come back out? When is rope drop if park has EMH? Thanks

Hi Claire - there really is no ceremony associated with rope drop at Magic Kingdom.  The rope is basically the furthest point you can go before the park officially opens.  Once the park opens, the rope is removed.  The advantage to being at rope drop is you can get to the attractions before the masses of people enter the park at the gates.

I would suggest you get your breakfast reservation as early as possible on a day where there are no early Extra Magic Hours. I believe the first reservation is 8:05.  That will give you enough time to eat and be ready for rope drop.

Since the park opens at 8:00 for Extra Magic Hours, you really don't have to worry about a rope drop.  You may be allowed in the park a few minutes early but by the time you walk down Main Street U.S.A. the park should be open.

If you are hoping to see an opening ceremony at Magic Kingdom, you'll want to be at the gates at the time the park opens.

    Have a fabulous vacation, Claire!
