What are the best events and dining locations for children with food allergies.

    Hiya, Megan! Welcome to planDisney!

As a Guest with food allergies myself (hello, lactose intolerance!), I know just how stressful it can be to eat out even if it's just for one meal, so planning an entire vacation around food choices can be very taxing. Thankfully, the Walt Disney World Resort is fully committed to offering amazing dining options and experiences to Guests with all kinds of food allergies and intolerances!

I'm happy to report that the vast majority of table-service and quick-service restaurants throughout the Walt Disney World Resort (even the booths at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival) can accommodate Guests with egg, fish, milk, peanut, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nut, and wheat allergies without any advance notice and upon request, but they will also do their best to accommodate you if you need anything specifically prepared without gluten, lactose, corn, citrus, nightshades, or MSG. All you need to do is ask to see each location's allergy-friendly menus or speak to a Cast Member on the culinary team to find out what your options are!

Now that we got most dining locations out of the way, I am very excited to tell you that Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a FANGtastic event for children who suffer from food allergies. If your children can't have any of the candy handed out by Cast Members on the trick-or-treat trails, no worries! They won't have to miss out on the fun. In fact, you can request a special teal trick-or-treat bag for your children to hold, and Cast Members on the trails will give them bunches of teal tokens instead of candy. Once your children have collected their tokens, they will be able to exchange them for allergy-friendly treats at one of the allergy-friendly treat locations within Magic Kingdom Park. In the past, Guests have been able to exchange their tokens in Liberty Square next to the Hall of Presidents and in the Town Square Theater by the entrance of the park, but locations are always subject to change.

Megan, I would also like to point out that if you or anyone in your party has either four or more allergy-friendly requests, requires pureed meals, or adheres to a medically-restrictive diet, you can always contact Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com in advance to ask for a Special Dietary Request form no sooner than 14 days prior to your arrival. I'm sure you and your children will have a scrumptious time!

I hope that my answer has helped clarify your concerns, Megan! Please feel free to reach back out to us if there's anything else you need. We're always available and more than happy to chat with our fellow Disney-loving friends!

    Bon appétit,

    Ana Paula
