What's the best way to entertain a 18 month old while standing in line for the attractions and rides?

    Hi there, Julie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I can't wait for your little one to experience the magic of the Disneyland Resort. When we took my son at this age, he really started appreciating meeting Characters, the thrill of attractions, and being mesmerized by the entertainment at the parks. As far as waiting in lines, we try to minimize time in line with him, since we know this can be a difficult task for a toddler. We try to not wait more than 25 minutes with him for any attraction, and with some tips, I hope you can minimize your wait times as well! The most important tip I have is to arrive to the parks early. Lines will be the shortest within the first couple hours of park opening and especially during Extra Magic Hours if you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. In just a couple hours we can experience almost every kid-friendly attraction in Fantasyland of Disneyland Park. Also, we have found that our son was in the best mood earlier in the day so this is also when we try to do the most attractions that he will appreciate.

Another tip is to purchase Disney MaxPass. This is a priceless addition to our trip as it lets us easily make Disney FASTPASS selections from our phones bypassing the standby queues for many attractions. There are also many fun attractions for little ones that have virtually no wait such as the Disneyland Monorail, Main Street Vehicles, and Disneyland Railroad. My son was very fascinated by all these modes of transportation.

If we end up having to wait in line longer than we'd like, I like to keep my son occupied by showing him pictures and videos of things we did together that day or during our trip like meeting Characters or riding attractions. Now you can also play the fun, new, and interactive "Play Disney Parks" mobile app to stay occupied in line as well.

    I hope these tips help!
