Hello, Rani! Welcome back to planDisney. I'm glad you sailed our way again with another question.
And oh boy, what a question you have! I have to admit, you'd likely get a different answer from each Disney Cruise Line panelist about which ship is best because it really comes down to personal preference! I'd love to share what's best about
each ship in the fleet so that you can think about what might appeal to you the most.
Let's start with the newest ship, the
Disney Wish. The Wish set sail in 2022 and is the biggest ship in the fleet. It boasts the newest technology and modern design touches. This ship is beautiful and filled with Disney details from bow to stern. The Wish might be your favorite if you are a huge fan of Frozen (you'll get to dine in Arendelle!), love Star Wars (Hyperspace Lounge is a must for a drink), and want to experience how it feels to step into a castle while sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line. You can watch a fascinating documentary titled Making the Wish: Disney's Newest Cruise Ship to get an in-depth look at all the ship has to enjoy.
The Wish is an amazing ship, and I love it, however, Disney Wish currently only offers three and four-night sailings. I prefer to sail for a week or longer if I can. If you'd like a longer itinerary while experiencing a brand new ship, you may wish to book a cruise on the
Disney Treasure. The Treasure will debut in December 2024 and will offer seven-night sailings.
The
Disney Dream and
Disney Fantasy are sister ships and as such, are very similar. This size and class of ship happens to be my personal favorite. I love the waterslide (the AquaDuck) onboard as well as the interactive game, the Midship Detective Agency. The layout of the ship is excellent, with plenty of youth spaces, adult spaces, and entertainment areas for everyone to enjoy. I've sailed the most on the Disney Fantasy and it has a special place in my heart.
The
Disney Wonder and
Disney Magic are the coziest ships in the fleet. Fans of The Princess and The Frog will love Tiana's Place on the Disney Wonder, where you can find jazz music, beignets, and delicious food. Onboard the Disney Magic, Tangled fans can get excited about Rapunzel's Royal Table where dessert is actually served in a frying pan! Both of these ships have plenty to offer and despite being the classic ships, they have been updated regularly and do not feel dated.
When I poll my family, the ship they deem to be "best" is whichever one they've made the most special memories while onboard. Magical memories await on each ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and I wish you a spectacular voyage, no matter which ship you choose!
Please sail back to us if you have more questions. My panelist pals and I are here to help.
Happy Planning,
Adrianna
