What is the best way to make dining reservations for a large group (14)?

Hi there, Alorah! Welcome to planDisney. There’s nothing more magical than visiting The Happiest Place on Earth with a large group. Whether it’s a trip with friends, family, or both, the more the merrier. And what better way to share a meal together? I’d love to walk you through making a reservation for a large group.

When you’re on the Disneyland app or website, dining reservations can be booked up to 60 days in advance and for parties of up to 20 Guests. While the system allows for larger groups, I’ve found that the smoothest way to move through the reservation process is with parties of 4–5 Guests. Restaurants on property generally don’t have very large tables, which makes sense, but Cast Members do an amazing job accommodating everyone.

Here’s my go-to method for booking large groups. When I’m with family or friends, I like to break the group into more manageable party sizes, such as 4–5 Guests per reservation. As I pick the time, the increments between each slot can range from 5 to 30 minutes, so I choose them back-to-back to keep all tables dining together. At the host stand, I always ask if there’s any chance we could be seated next to each other or nearby. While this is subject to availability, this is where I’m wishing on a wishing star, just like Charlotte from The Princess and the Frog, in hopes that we’re close together.

If we’re dining at Goofy’s Kitchen or Plaza Inn, the buffet-style seating is comforting because it lets you see your party even if you’re not right next to each other. Cast Members still do their best to work their magic to make it happen whenever possible. And sometimes, even with a larger group, joining the walk-up list can pay off. On my last visit, our party of 7 snagged a table at Trader Sam’s using the walk-up list, even with the crowds during the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

Alorah, thank you so much for stopping by planDisney. I’m crossing my fingers that you can secure those reservations for your group. If you have any other questions or need guidance as you plan your visit, planDisney is always happy to help.
