Hi there, Cynthia!
I’m so happy you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your Disneyland Resort question. I’ve also looked for ways to maintain a low-carb lifestyle while
dining in the theme parks, and I’m excited to share some ideas with you.
Yes, I’ve often requested a lettuce-wrapped hamburger or asked to substitute a side salad for fries at certain quick-service locations. You should also have no problem modifying some menu items to suit your needs, such as requesting that certain starchy ingredients be left off a salad.
A great location for a high-protein snack or meal is
Bengal Barbecue in Disneyland Park. My favorites are the Bengal Beef Skewer and the Safari Skewer, which is made of bacon-wrapped asparagus. Just remember to ask that any sauces be held or served on the side. At Plaza Inn on Main Street, U.S.A., you can request baked chicken legs instead of fried chicken, or I’ve also removed the breading from a fried chicken breast myself. Ask to substitute the mashed potatoes with an extra side of vegetables. Another favorite of mine there is the Chopped Salad, which includes chicken, cheddar cheese, bacon, pickled onions and tomatoes. Just ask for no beans or croutons.
At Disney California Adventure Park, stop by
Flo’s V8 Cafe for a lettuce-wrapped Ka-Cheeseburger with vegetables instead of fries or a Cobb de Ville Salad that includes turkey breast, bacon, blue cheese, hard-boiled egg and tomatoes with ranch dressing (ask for no corn). I hope these suggestions help you plan, Cynthia. Please visit us again with any other questions you may have about the Happiest Place on Earth!
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
