What would be the best date range to travel if we are wanting to insure we are in the parks january 4th and 6th 2027. including 3 or 4 days in park with a couple breakdays inbetween?

Hi Matt! Welcome to planDisney, and Happy New Year... almost!

January is a perfect time to visit the Disneyland Resort, and I love that you're planning ahead. Let's talk about what I would recommend and why!

Early January is one of my most recommended times to visit. Most schools across the U.S. return from winter break on January 4 and 5, 2027, so crowds typically start to ease after the busy holiday season. While the Holidays at Disneyland Resort officially end on January 6, that doesn't mean all the festive magic disappears overnight. The decorations and seasonal atmosphere usually linger for a few days, giving you a chance to enjoy a little bit of that holiday sparkle without the peak holiday crowds.

I'm not sure how long you're planning to stay, but if your schedule allows, I would consider a full week. With three or four park days, some resort time, and time to slow down and enjoy everything around you, a week would be the perfect length for a visit.

Because of the New Year's holiday and school schedules, I would recommend checking in on Sunday, January 3, 2027. That gives you time to settle into your hotel, explore the Downtown Disney District, grab a great meal, and ease into vacation mode before your first park day. I checked the Disneyland Resort Hotel availability calendar, and all three Disneyland Resort Hotels currently have availability starting on January 3, 2027, with some very attractive rates for that week.

If you start in the parks on Monday, January 4, you could spend Tuesday enjoying some of the other experiences Disneyland Resort has to offer. It's the perfect opportunity for a character meal, shopping, or relaxing and taking advantage of your hotel's amenities. Then you can jump back into the parks refreshed and ready for more magic on January 6 and beyond!

The rest of the week gives you plenty of flexibility to mix park days with downtime, which is one of my favorite ways to experience the Happiest Place on Earth. Some of our best family memories have come from the moments in between the attractions, whether that was enjoying a special meal, exploring the resorts, or taking time to soak in the atmosphere. I recommend booking as soon as you finalize your travel plans, as the availability may disappear as quick as a snowflake on a warm sidewalk!

Matt, I hope you have the most magical visit! If we can help with any of the details, or if you have more questions as you continue planning, please stop by again.

    See ya real soon!
