Hi Kelly,
Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I am sure you are really looking forward to your magical family vacation. It is always such a wonderful experience seeing the parks through their little eyes.
Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of my new favorites. I recently stayed there for the first time and we loved the convenience of being able to easily walk to Magic Kingdom while also being on the monorail line. The views are pretty spectacular, too. I am also thrilled to hear that you have chosen to dine at
Boma - Flavors of Africa. This buffet is outstanding with its ethnic flavors and hearty options. I have never been disappointed when dining there. Some of my favorites are the lamb stew, spiced sirloin and you must try the zebra domes, one of their signature desserts!
In terms of
transportation, I would recommend taking the monorail (or walking to) Magic Kingdom and then transferring to a bus bound for Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. However, Be sure to give yourself at least an hour when traveling between resorts to account for the transfer as well as waiting time. I would not want you to feel rushed. If you get there with time to spare, you could explore the lobby, which has some really amazing African art, or venture out to the rear of the resort and look at the wildlife on the resort's savanas.
Have a wonderful time making memories to last a lifetime.
