What's the best character (or regular old) dining experience for a boy celebrating his 8th birthday? Do you have any other tips to make his birthday unforgettable??

    Hi Patti,

This is a tough question to answer as there are so many great restaurants throughout Walt Disney World. I have however just asked my 8-year old son what his favourite restaurants are and here is what the expert says:-

    Character Meal
Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort
This is a buffet style restaurant which offers a great selection of food as well as visits from Mickey Mouse and his pals! The character interaction here is very good and it would be a great place to celebrate a birthday.

    Non-Character Meal
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
This is a family-style restaurant which serves pulled pork, ribs, chicken baked beans, corn bread and more and has a some-what rowdy cowboy feel about it. There are a lot of fun antics which go on during your meal and it sure is a lot of fun! I won't give it all away, but make sure that your son asks for some ketchup once his meal is served.

As you will be celebrating his birthday why not do it in style and order a specialty celebration cake (for an additional charge) These should be ordered at least 48 hours in advance by calling (407) 827-2253.

Dining reservations can be made online HERE or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 up to 180 days prior to your visit.

I hope that you son has a fantastic birthday and wish you all a magical trip!
