Best bldg @ Poly? We are thinking of avoiding parks on New Year's Eve because of crowds. Would love to see fireworks from balcony or be close to our room if we have to go to the beach. Also convienent to TTC and /or GCH. Other Sugges. for NewYearsEve?

    Jennifer:

I haven't stayed at the Polynesian myself, but like you, are making plans to stay there within the year.

One of my favorite resources for room information is the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. What I found in my research there for my own trip is that the buildings from which you can get the best views of the fireworks are the second and third floors in the Tahiti building, the third floor in Tuvalu, and a concierge room on the first and third floors of Hawaii.

Buildings closest to the Great Ceremonial House are Fiji, Niue, Rarotonga, Samoa and the Tonga suites. The book reports that the Tahiti and Rapa Nui buildings are within walking distance of the Transportation and Ticket Center, which can be convenient if you plan on spending more time at Epcot.

I would not disagree on your plan to the avoid the parks on New Year's Eve. If you're not able to get a view of the fireworks from your room, a short walk down to the pier at the Polynesian will not only give you a nice view but the music is also piped in as well!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
