What is the best B-day party for a small budget, for a 5yr old boy?

Hi, Charlotte!    We had a great birthday celebration for my daughter when she turned 4.   We were staying at Port Orleans Riverside, and we were fortunate enough to coordinate a family vacation with my parents, siblings, and my nieces.    The problem was, how to host a party for 13 people and not break the bank?

I sent invitations to everyone to meet at the Food Court at our resort.  I pre-ordered a couple of pizzas along with a small birthday cake.   It was just perfect!    The kids had room to play, the adults could sit and chat and nobody felt rushed.   After we ate, my daughter opened her gifts (very cute, everyone just bought her small items from the gift shop that she could easily carry home in her suitcase.)

On our hotel room door, I hung a Happy Birthday sign, and my princess thought it was so fun that she could spot our room from far away.

The magic of the party for my daughter was celebrating in Disney and she was amazed that Mickey could bake cakes along with everything else he does!    It was a very economical party, and one of her favorite birthdays!

If you plan to dine at any table service restaurants, let them know you are celebrating a birthday and they will sometimes treat the birthday boy/girl  (or mom or dad if it is their birthday!) with a special sweet treat!   This is another great way to celebrate!

Make sure to stop by guest services for a FREE Happy Birthday button for you son to wear.   Also, you might want to bring a birthday card for the characters to sign in lieu of an autograph book - it will be a great keepsake and reminder of your little guy's 5th birthday!  Enjoy your celebration!
