Hi Michele,
The V
illas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (VWL) is a charming five-story building adjacent to the larger and more grand
Disney's Wilderness Lodge. These sister resorts sit side-by-side on the shores of Bay Lake in the Magic Kingdom area of the Walt Disney World Resort. They are joined by a covered walkway and share the same restaurants, transportation, and recreational options.
Since the Villas are operated by the Disney Vacation Club, this building has a mixture of deluxe studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom villas. With the exception of a few spectacular suites, the Wilderness Lodge has more traditional hotel rooms that accommodate four guests. Reminiscent of the great national parks of the American west at the turn of the century, the theming of these two resorts is thorough and inspiring. You definitely don't get the sense that these two buildings are, in fact, separate resorts. Rather, they seem like two halves of the same cohesive whole.
If you have no special preference between the floor plans of the rooms offered at the Wilderness Lodge and VWL, then I would choose between the two buildings based on the kind of vacation experience you seek. If you are looking for a rustic, cozy nook at the end of a busy day in the theme parks, select a room at VWL. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a bit more activity and a seven-story lobby with jaw-dropping splendor, then I'd book a room within the main lodge. Either way, you can't go wrong! You're bound to fall in love with these magnificent Disney resorts. I did!
Jill
