Bernie, thanks for answering my question! I just reserved the Boardwalk Inn. It was $200 more than the Wilderness & I heard it was great for days spent at the hotel. Good Choice/good location for girls? I have 2 wks. to change! I would love your opi

    Hi Alisha!

I'm biased, because my absolute favorite resort hotel at Walt Disney World is the Wilderness Lodge.  I love the theming; I think it is the most beautiful hotel at Walt Disney World and I enjoy the boat ride between it and the Magic Kingdom.

However, the Boardwalk Inn is also a great hotel and depending on your plans, it's location could be a lot better.  The Boardwalk is located on Crescent Lake between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.  It is possible to walk to either, though the walk to the Studios is a little long, especially in the hot summer.  However, there is also boat service between the Boardwalk and the two theme parks.

Right outside the hotel is Disney's Boardwalk entertainment district.  There are several restaurants, shops, and two night clubs there.  Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar and a lot of fun, but all guests have to be 21 years old or older.  Atlantic Dance Hall is right next to Jellyrolls.  On select nights there are also street entertainers out on the boardwalk; the last time we visited we saw a great juggling act.

Walking around Crescent Lake is nice, especially at night when everything is lit up.  You can also rent a Surrey bicycle for the trip.

If you are going to spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, then I recommend staying at the Wilderness Lodge.  Otherwise, the Boardwalk might be best.  Good luck and have a magical vacation!
