Bernie, Like a previous question. We have 2 weeks booked at OKW in August, but were hoping to look around the other resorts, and possibly change if a resort we like the look of has space. We do have the dining plan through. Could we do this with the DDP?

    Hi Peter!

Thank you for sending me this question!  I really appreciate it!

You can explore the other resorts and change resorts, but if you are on a Disney Dining Plan it is a little tricky.  The Disney Dining Plan is tied to a particular reservation.  So this means you have three options in general:

    • If you have an idea of the two resorts you want to stay in, then you can make two reservations with a Disney Dining Plan on each of them
    • You can make a reservation at the first resort with a Disney Dining Plan.  Then once you are there you can make a reservation at a second resort without a dining plan.
    • You can make a reservation at the first resort and do not get a Disney Dining Plan.  Then you can do whatever you want, including perhaps only staying in the resort one night.
The tickets are also an issue if you want a Disney Dining Plan at your second resort as you can only get a dining plan if you are on a package, meaning room and tickets.  My personal recommendation is to go with one of the last two options above.  In fact, what I would personally do is to make the first reservation with a Disney Dining Plan and a 10 Day Magic Your Way ticket; then I would pick the second resort (perhaps not until I'm at Walt Disney World) and stay there as "room only", meaning no tickets and no dining plan.  I would simply use my already purchased 10 Day Magic Your Way tickets.

I hope this helps.  I know it can be confusing so write back with more questions!
