What are the benefits to buying annual passes in advance? I would still need to stand in line to exchange vouchers for tickets correct?

    Hi Patricia,

I always buy my annual pass in advance.  You will receive the voucher in the mail, and then yes, you will need to exchange it once you get to Walt Disney World for your annual pass.  To exchange the voucher, you will need your voucher and a photo ID.  You can redeem your voucher for your annual pass at Guest Relations at any of the theme parks or Downtown Disney.  A trick if you are trying to avoid lines is to go to one of the Guest Relations locations that is typically less crowded.  I was quickly able to exchange my voucher for an annual pass at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney West Side recently.  The Guest Relations window at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot is also typically less crowded.

For me, the benefit of buying the annual pass voucher online and receiving the voucher ahead of time is that I have already paid for the annual pass before I arrive at Walt Disney World.  I simply hand the cast member at Guest Relations my voucher and get an annual pass in return!  Also know that your annual pass will not start until you exchange the voucher.  So if you buy the voucher on April 7, but do not go to Walt Disney World until October 15, your annual pass start date will be October 15.

I hope that this information helps, Patricia.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
