Hi I begin my vacation during the fastpass/ genie + change over. We arrive to disneyworld July 21. I am already overwhelmed dealing with genie + much less having to figure out a new one while I am there. Will I be able to use the new system 2 days early?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Brenda.

It looks like you've heard about the changes coming to the Walt Disney World Resort for how we book Lightning Lanes. These exciting updates will allow Guests to book these experiences before they arrive at the resort. And while I know change can be overwhelming at times, let's take some advice from Mary Sanderson from Hocus Pocus and form a calming circle. You've got this, Brenda, I just know it!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass will roll out on July 24, 2024. Since this will be in the middle of your upcoming trip, this means that each day you'd like to take advantage of Lightning Lanes before July 24, 2024, you'll use the existing Disney Genie+ Service and/or Individual Lightning Lanes. Then, from July 24th onward, you'll use Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Lightning Lane Single Pass.

Now don't break that calming circle yet. I've created a quick cheat sheet for you! Here we go:

    Before July 24, 2024

    • To book Lightning Lanes for over 40 attractions at the resort, you'll purchase the Disney Genie+ Service before 7 a.m. on each day you'd like to use it.
    • At 7 a.m., you'll book your first Lightning Lane attraction, and then book additional selections 1 at a time after you've redeemed your first.
    • If you'd like to reserve Lightning Lanes at the resort's most popular attractions, you can book Individual Lightning Lanes at 7 a.m. if you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel or when the park at which the attraction you're looking to book opens for all other Guests. You can book 2 of these types of reservations per person, per day.
    July 24, 2024 and Beyond

    • On July 24, 2024, you'll be able to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and make your initial Lightning Lane reservations starting at 7 a.m. for that day and the rest of your vacation (up to 14 days).
    • You'll be able to initially make up to 3 of these Lightning Lane reservations for included attractions with Lightning Lane Multi Pass for each day. Then, you can make another one of these Lightning Lane reservations each time you redeem one on each of these days (subject to availability), continuing throughout the day as long as there are more reservations available.
    • You'll also have the option to purchase and make up to 2 Lightning Lane reservations per person, per day using Lightning Lane Single Pass for the most popular rides at the resort.
    • For future visits, while these services are offered, you'll be able to purchase and make your 3 advance reservations with Lightning Lane Multi Pass starting at 7 a.m. 7 days before the first day of your resort stay for your entire trip (up to 14 days) if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel. You'll also be able to purchase up to 2 Lightning Lane Single Passes per person, per day for your stay (up to 14 days). Guests not staying at one of these resorts will be able to purchase and make reservations using these services up to 3 days before the first day of their ticket for the total number of valid admission days on their ticket.
Brenda, best wishes for smooth sailing. After all, the line where the sky meets the sea is calling you. Or rather, the line where the Disney Genie+ Service meets the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass! Be sure to reach out with any other questions...about that line or anything else related to your upcoming vacation!

If you can dream it, you can do it,
    Matt
