Our next visit to
Walk Disney World is in a 1 Bedroom Villa at
Disney's Old Key West Resort, too, and I am always mindful of what will be in our villa's kitchen when we travel. In fact, that particular villa style is so spacious and accommodating, we chose that location many years in a row. We absolutely love it!
I am always so impressed by kitchen equipment in these villas--they are often much more substantial than those in my own! On my most recent 1 Bedroom stay, we had an assortment of pots and pans, a cutting board or two, mixing bowls, a casserole dish, baking sheet, a variety of cooking utensils, sharp knives, a full set of flatware, some serving spoons, plus plates and bowls. Glassware included coffee mugs, smaller juice glasses, full size glasses, and wine glasses. All of the equipment listed could go into the dishwasher should you choose to do so. In addition, you'll likely find a corkscrew, can opener, toaster, two dish towels, and a roll or two of paper towels.
Once in your villa, check inside one of the kitchen cabinet doors for the current Amenity List. If you note that something is listed, but you don't have that in your kitchen, just call Housekeeping and they'll bring you that item right away. In fact, if there are other items listed as available upon request (electric mixer, blender) or if you'd like an additional baking sheet or casserole dish, I've had them bring me those as well.
One of our favorite OKW kitchen traditions when my kids were little was to head to
Conch Flats General Store and stock up on ingredients for rainy afternoon snacks. There's nothing better than a fun day in the park, then getting into your villa right before the rain comes. As everyone is showering, playing, or catching a Disney movie on the large screen TV, I'll top some tortilla chips with cheddar cheese, pop them under the broiler, then serve with salsa--all from Conch Flats.
We've been able to cook up just about anything we wanted in our WDW 1 Bedroom Villa. Some days include freshly made breakfast sandwiches for the road, others involve an easy home cooked dinner or concocting a great dish using leftovers from an outstanding restaurant meal that was just too big to finish. In fact, I even made a delicious bread pudding using leftover muffins, croissants, some eggs, milk, and butter clearing out the fridge near the end of a visit. Topped with ice cream, it was an ooey-gooey "homemade" dessert that was perfect when we just wanted a cozy night in the villa after a full day of fun. That kitchen is key to giving you--and your meals--all the flexibility you might need.
