Hi! I have become addicted to this panel and disney planning.Planning for trip in 2011. Are the in room washer/dryers worth the extra money or is using the resort laundry sufficient? Planning to stay 9 nights/10 days.Budget of @$7000 for expenses.

Hey, Anita!  I know!  Planning a WDW vacation is very addicting...I enjoy it so much that I've "justified" my hobby by serving on the Moms Panel. Now, let's get started planning yours!

We are Disney Vacation Club members, and the in-room washers/dryers are in the DVC villas.  We stay in a DVC villa at least once a year, and with my family of six, it is well worth our DVC membership to have the laundry facilities as well as the kitchen -- especially if we're staying more than a week.  However, if our family didn't visit WDW as often and weren't DVC members, I'd have to be honest with you and say that I would rather spend my vacation budget on dining and entertainment more than I would in-room amenities (like in-room laundry facilities).

I've used the laundry facilities at some of the other various resorts, and they are as you would expect.  They take lots of quarters to wash and dry your clothes...and they either take several cycles to dry or they dry your clothes to a crisp.  Plus, doing laundry takes out several hours of your vacation time to "babysit" your laundry.  Depending on your vacation preferences (dining out/eating in, amenities, etc.), I would definitely price out the difference in a villa versus a typical resort room for your traveling party and decide if it's worth the extra money for your 10-day vacation.  I certainly wouldn't hinge my spending so much extra on just the in-room laundry option.  (I would just wash things in the sink and hang them in the bathroom to dry!)

I hope this helps you plan!  Thanks for coming to visit me on the Moms Panel!  Have a beautiful Alabama day and a most magical vacation!
