Hi - I became a DVC member 4 yrs ago to relive all my childhd vacas at WDW every yr from age 2-16 with my own family. On site trans used to be for guest only and had to show thier resort card - isn't WDW trans for on site guests only?

Hi Jeff!  The Disney transportation system is one of the best and well run systems in the world taking thousands of guests where they need to be on a timely basis. It is one of the great perks to being a Disney resort guest during your Walt Disney World vacation.

Although guests are not asked to show their resort ID when using the busses, boats, or monorails it isn't something that day guests will really benefit from. These guests would still need to park a car at a theme park as parking at Disney resorts is only for those resort guests and each resort has a guard station monitoring entrance to the resort.  Of course if you have a dining reservation at that resort they can check the list and you will be allowed to park for that reason for a short amount of time. Several of the resorts are very strict with this such as the Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk, Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian.

Guests who hold a Park Hopper type ticket will also be allowed to use the transportation since they can go from park to park during the same day.  If you have a dining reservation at a resort or location where it is necessary to take Disney transportation such as Fort Wilderness you also can use the system.

I am sure there are day guests who use a bus or monorail or boat on occasion to take a "ride" but to get around the property would be easier for them to use their own car since they have to return to get it at some point before parks close for the day.
