I became an Annual Passholder for the first time this year and I’m planning to activate it on a Disney World trip this December. How do I make park reservations ahead of time? I don’t want to run the risk of the parks I want to visit reaching capacity!

Hi Monique! Welcome to planDisney, where we happily answer all of your burning Disney vacation questions.

Congratulations on becoming an Annual Passholder. I too became a Passholder for the first time this year and I'm so very excited about the possibilities! There is always something new and exciting coming to the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort and you and I will have a front-row seat now that we have the flexibility to go more often. And be sure to check out all of the discounts and perks available to you now that you're a Passholder!

As I recently learned, you do not need to activate your Annual Pass to make Theme Park Reservations. As long as your Annual Pass is activated by the time you go to redeem your reservations, you're good to go! Once you know your dates, go to the Theme Park Reservations page, and select either "Book Park Reservation" if you are not staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel during your trip, or "Book Park Reservation for Hotel Guest with Annual Pass" if you are. Then, select your Annual Pass as the ticket media and follow the prompts. Just be sure you have activated your Annual Pass at a Guest Relations location outside of any of the theme parks or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs before you tap into the parks on your first day. And get ready for a magical year as a newly anointed Annual Passholder at the Walt Disney World Resort!

Monique, since you are coming to the resort during the merriest time of year, I just wanted to let you know that the Disney Parks Blog just recently announced a bunch of holiday happenings for the resort. While I'm always excited for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park, this year I am most excited for the debut of Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios! It sounds like such a fun and unique way to get in the spirit of the season!

I hope you have a wonderful visit to the resort and enjoy your new status as an Annual Passholder. Be sure to reach out again if you have any other questions during your year of magic!

    Let love guide your actions,
    Matt
