Welcome Home, Amanda! Thanks so much for swimming on over to planDisney. I'm delighted to meet a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member and beach aficionado--let's explore that shore up above!
Disney's Vero Beach Resort was the first DVC property built outside of
Walt Disney World Resort, opening back in 1995. It's a beautiful spot on Atlantic Beach, about a 2-hour drive from Walt Disney World. In addition to the beach, the resort also features a fantastic
Mickey Mouse-shaped swimming pool that has a two-story waterslide if you're feeling brave!
Amanda, I'm happy to report that the beach refurbishment wrapped up in early March, ahead of schedule. You'll be able to enjoy the ocean breezes and perhaps take to the waves on a boogie board or jet ski--just don't forget your sunscreen and a room key or Magic Band to access the beach. Keep in mind that the beach does not have lifeguards, so you will need to keep an eye on your littlest mermaids and mermen!
The Vero Beach resort is also home to several species of nesting
sea turtles, and Disney plays an important part in protecting their habitat. During your stay, you may have the opportunity to chat with some of Disney Conservation Team Wildlife to learn more about the turtles, and perhaps even see some in action!
I hope this information is just what you need for your planning purposes, Amanda! Just think, in a few short weeks you'll have your toes in the sand, enjoying a well-deserved vacation. I'm so excited for you! Thanks again for flipping your fins to planDisney, and please stop back anytime if we can help with other questions.
Gimme Some Fin!
Susan
