Is the beach at disney’s Vero beach closed for the indian county restoration projext? And if so, for how long?

    Hi Stephanie, welcome to planDisney!

Thanks for asking a question about one of Disney's Island and Beach Resorts today, Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Disney's Vero Beach resort is elegant and perfect for relaxing and enjoying Florida's scenic Atlantic Treasure Coast. My family first visited the resort a few years ago, fell in love and promptly booked another stay the following summer. We loved spending time on the beach looking for shells or meeting a Cast Member on the Disney Conservation Team Wildlife to walk alongside the team while they looked for turtle nests as a part of turtle conservation. It looks like you'll be at Disney's Vero Beach Resort just in time for the Tour de Turtles so hopefully, you'll see a turtle or two.

The turtle nesting season is the reason for the Indian County Beach and Dune restoration project that occurs annually. The beach loses a lot of sand due to washouts and erosion so the County brings in sand to build up the dunes so the turtles can nest. Turtle nesting season starts March 1 and ends in October so the beaches are being worked on now. I spoke with a Cast Member at Vero Beach Resort who said they are working on a section directly in front of the resort. If the weather cooperates, the beach should be ready within the next week or two. If you'd like updates, you can visit the Indian County website for updates.

If you're more of a pool person, the Mickey-shaped swimming pool is newly refurbished and is ready to be enjoyed!  All of the pool’s activities are back on track and are loads of fun. My favourite pool activity is the Pirate Plunge waterslide race - a timed race where the Cast Members time the participants as they fly down the 2-story 163-foot spiral water slide. I just might have been crowned the women’s sliding champion on one of our trips!

Stephanie, I hope this information is helpful to your vacation planning. You're going to have a wonderful time exploring Disney's Vero Beach Resort! Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help!

    Just keep swimming,
    Candace
