We were at Beach Club December 2013 and received the refillable mugs as part of our dining plan. We are headed back in October 2014, but this time we are not opting for the dining plan. Can we bring these mugs again and use them?

    Mary:

The refillable mugs of the past are gone along with the questions of whether it was "legal" or not to bring back a previously-purchased mug to use, even if you stayed at the same resort.

Disney has now moved to "Rapid Fill" mugs that are refillable and reusable but only for the length of your stay. You'll find that the resorts have now installed RFID (radio frequency identification) technology in their resort mugs to be used with the new Rapid Fill drink machines in the food courts. To legally use the self-serve drink machines, the machines now must read your mug before you can fill it. Paper cups are also fitted with the same technology, allowing you to fill the cup 3 times within an hour before the cup is no longer recognized by the machine.

So, yes, technically you could bring your old mugs, but they will no longer work on Disney's drink system.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
