Are battery powered string lights (xmas lights) allowed on board?

    Hi Lauren!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I love that you're already thinking about decorations for your upcoming Disney Cruise! Are you planning a Very Merrytime Cruise? If so, you will be in awe of how festive the entire ship is for the holiday season!

I just called my helpful friends at Disney Cruise Line to ask if whether or not a string of battery-powered Christmas lights are allowed onboard. Unfortunately, they are not allowed. "Seasonal and/or celebratory light bulb strings" are included in the Prohibited Items list and include strings of battery-operated lights as well. One idea that might be cute is to make Christmas lightbulbs out of paper and use magnets to hang them on the outside of your stateroom door. I know these lights wouldn't light up, but they would make the outside of your stateroom door super festive and fun! You just need to be sure to use only magnets when putting up the paper decorations on your door; you may not use tape, glue or any adhesive materials.

I'm so sorry I couldn't give you better news. Hopefully, you'll find other festive ways to decorate your stateroom while sailing the high seas with Captain Mickey! Please stop back with any future questions!
