Welcome to planDisney, Edward!
"Disneyland will be the essence of America as we know it, the nostalgia of the past, with exciting glimpses into the future."
— Walt Disney
Stop, Edward! You’re making me want to cry from all the nostalgic thinking about the Disneyland Resort. It really is special to remember the magical visits we have made to The Happiest Place on Earth!
As we progress through life, so too does the Disneyland Resort progress. Walt Disney said that "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."
I’m guessing you may have visited the Disneyland Resort around 1966. That was the year that
Disneyland’s Tomorrowland began a
months-long reimagining. In 1967,
six new Tomorrowland attractions debuted! When Tomorrowland originally opened on July 17, 1955, there were only three attractions: Autopia, Hall of Chemistry, and Space Station X-1. Clearly, Tomorrowland is meant to be constantly updated. As the classic song from Carrousel of Progress tells us, “
There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!”
What’s your favorite Tomorrowland attraction, Edward? Mine is
Space Mountain. I love the thrill of hurtling through space, not quite knowing which direction our spacecraft will turn next. Tomorrowland is also the home of one of my favorite
quick-service dining menu items: the
Loaded Breakfast Sandwich from the
Galactic Grill. I love placing a
Mobile Food & Beverage Order for this tasty meal while we wait in line for our first attraction of the day: Space Mountain, of course. When we return to earth after our ride through space, we head over to pick up our order without having to wait in line to place an order. Then we devour a delicious breakfast while we enjoy the sights and sounds of Tomorrowland buzzing around us.
As the Disneyland Resort progresses through a
phased reopening, I look forward to the day we can return to a "world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy." See ya real soon, Edward!
