We're going back to WDW this October 11th-15th (Our shortest trip). On the website it highlights the 25th - 31st for better dates to visit. (Same price though) Will we be missing any special events or longer park hours or just less crowds by going earlier?

    Good news!

No, you shouldn't be missing anything other than longer lines by delaying your trip 10 days.  You will still be able to enjoy Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (this is an additional cost) as well Epcot's International Fine Food and Wine Festival.

I also did look at the park hours from October of 2007 and found the parks did close a bit earlier in the latter week, but I think the smaller crowds will make up for it.
