Hi Andrea,
I'm so glad to hear that both you and your Mom enjoyed your first visit to Walt Disney World!
I too am very excited to see the new Royal Guest rooms where your family are placed in the middle of a Disney story and each of the stately rooms are fit for royalty.
The rooms will be located in the Oak Manor & Parterre Place buildings of the Magnolia Bend section of Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. You will need to make sure that you specifically select a Royal Guest Room when you are making your Resort hotel reservation to ensure that you are allocated one of these rooms.
According to a post from the Disney Parks Blog from earlier this year which you can see
HERE, the story behind these lush rooms is that Princess Tiana (“The Princess and The Frog”) invited some of her royal pals – Belle (“Beauty and the Beast”), Jasmine (“Aladdin”) and more – for a vacation getaway. Princes and princesses of all ages can enjoy their luxurious lodging quarters, which will include ornate beds that feature headboards with fiber-optic special effects, and gold and crystal accents. Guests also can enjoy artwork and special mementos left by Tiana’s royal friends.
I think that the Ariel rooms which you are talking about are The Little Mermaid rooms which will be located at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. This brand new Resort hotel is opening in phases beginning May 2012 and The Little Mermaid rooms are not currently scheduled to open until December 31, 2012. You can find out more about this brand new Resort

Wishing you a magical trip!
