Ahoy, Dana!
Welcome back to planDisney! A back-to-back sailing is already a dream come true—but sailing on two different ships? Now that’s next-level Disney magic! It's like hopping off the Magic Carpet after one adventure and jumping straight into the East Australian Current with Crush for the next!
Sailing on
the brand-new Destiny followed by the Dream is what we call a side-by-side itinerary, and it comes with a few key differences from a traditional back-to-back cruise on the same ship. While it may not include the same seamless onboard transition, it’s still totally manageable—and absolutely worth it for the double dose of enchantment.
Here’s what you can expect: After your Destiny cruise wraps up, you’ll need to fully disembark with your luggage, go through customs, and then head over to the terminal for
the Dream. It’s a bit like finishing a magical chapter and heading into the next one in the storybook—but with maybe a quick snack break in between!
Disney Cruise Line keeps track of Guests sailing consecutive voyages, so there’s no need to notify them in advance. You should
receive instructions from Guest Services during your first sailing that outlines disembarkation, luggage handling, transportation, and what to expect next. If you haven’t received anything by the final night onboard, stop by Guest Services and they’ll help make sure your transition goes smoother than Rapunzel’s hair.
Once your transportation arrives at the next terminal, you’ll check in for the Dream just like any new sailing—so make sure you’ve got your travel documents handy in your day bag. Since this is a brand-new cruise, you'll go through security again and you may receive a new boarding group. Sometimes Guests doing side-to-side itineraries are allowed to board earlier than their originally assigned group, but this isn’t guaranteed, so be sure to follow the instructions provided by the Cast Member escorting you through the process.
Currently, both the Destiny and the Dream are
scheduled to depart from Terminal 4 at Port Everglades, but when two ships are in port at the same time, one will often be moved to Terminal 26. The best way to avoid any surprises is to check the Disney Cruise Line website closer to your sail date for the latest terminal assignments.
Whether you're discovering the brand-new enchantment of the Destiny or reliving the timeless wonder of the Dream, this adventure is going to be one for the memory books. Two ships, twice the fun, and double the opportunities to wish upon a star!
Sea ya real soon with a June full of sun, sea, and shipshape adventures,
Dustin
