Back again planning for another trip. If we get military prices can we get a dinning plan if one is offered? Did get tickets military and what we could off our room, but thinking this time if dining plan offered. Early Dec. of next yr. trip. Thanks

    Hi Joan!

The best way to get over post Disney trip blues is to start planning another one!.Guests that are taking advantage of military discounts on rooms can add any of Disney's Dining Plans to their reservation by paying the additional cost, but are not eligible to participate in Disney's Free Dining Promotion.I am constantly on the look out for discounts and ways to make them work to my advantage,as long as it follows the rules, so there may be a way for you to take advantage of Disney's Free Dining Promotion if offered next year.

Typically, Disney's Free Dining Promotion will require the purchase of a package with a minimum number of nights at a Disney resort and minimum base ticket. For 2013, a 3 nights stay and at least a 2-day base ticket is required in order to receive the dining plan for free for the duration of your stay. One way that you could use your Military discounts is by booking a package (albeit full price) and only purchasing a 2-day base ticket. You could then use your Military discounted tickets for the remainder of your stay, letting you save on the cost of tickets. The downside to this, is that you cannot receive a discount on your room and you will pay full price for 2 days worth of park tickets.Just be aware that although Disney does offers various promotions throughout the year, it is not certain if the Free Dining Promotion will be offered again each year.

I am a numbers kind of gal,so I would price out your vacation with your Military discounts plus paying for the dining plan out of pocket. Then price your vacation using the strategy I listed above, you may be surprised that using your Military discounts and paying for the dining plan out of pocket will probably save you the most money.

I hope this was helpful, Joan!  Please let me know if you have anymore questions or need advice while planning your upcoming vacation!

    Best Wishes!
