Hi Kayleigh and welcome to planDisney!
As one of the current UK panellists, it will be my absolute pleasure to answer your question about your upcoming visit to my favourite holiday destination - Walt Disney World.
First of all, I completely understand you not wanting to carry your passport around with you, throughout your trip. When my family visits, our passports do not leave the safe once we have checked-in at our Disney Resort hotel.
Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at Walt Disney World by all Guests 21 years of age or older and you are quite right in saying that any Guest visiting from outside of the United States, wishing to purchase an alcoholic beverage, must present either their original passport or, a copy of their passport (either on paper or captured on a mobile device) along with a government-issued photo ID that can verify the person and birth date shown on the copy of their passport.
This information is confirmed within the
Restaurants - Frequently Asked Questions section of the Walt Disney World website.
As a UK provisional drivers licence is a government-issued photo ID, you should not encounter any difficulties when presenting this and a copy of your passport in order to purchase alcoholic beverages.
For a bit of further reassurance, I do also have friends who recently visited Walt Disney World with children in their early twenties who had no problem at all in using their UK provisional drivers licence and electronic copy of their passport to purchase alcoholic beverages, throughout their stay.
Before I go, Kayleigh, can I make a recommendation for you? I have myself just returned from a short trip to Walt Disney World where I experienced
GEO-82 at EPCOT for the very first time and I simply cannot say enough good things about it!
It's located in a pretty cool spot - within the iconic geodesic sphere that's home to Spaceship Earth and upon arrival, my party were lucky enough to be seated right beside the window which offered an amazing view of
EPCOT - perfect for a bit of people-watching. Our group enjoyed lots of classic cocktails and small bites whilst we were there, for research purposes, of course. The Funghi Flatbread was really good and even though I do not like whisky at all, the Peach Shrub Whisky Smash cocktail was to die for!
As a special treat, you could even consider booking a
GEO-82 Fireworks Experience which would mean that in addition to the above, you'd be perfectly positioned to enjoy dazzling fireworks views of
Luminous The Symphony of Us, the nighttime spectacular.
I hope that this has put your mind to rest and that you have a brilliant time when you visit Walt Disney World next year.
Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
