Hi Lisa, welcome to planDisney!
You're going to have an amazing time visiting Walt Disney World Resort with your young mousketeers. My 10-year-old daughter is my favorite ride partner (
Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park is her favorite) and my 7-year-old son's interactions with characters (
Mickey's his favorite) are pure Disney magic. Kids remind us to never grow up, except for those times when an adult is needed to pay the bill!
Let's see about getting you connected to your kids in
My Disney Experience, Lisa. Start by deciding which parent will manage your children's My Disney Experience plans. As long as everyone's connected as Family and Friends, both parents will be able to see and make plans for the children. Things that only the managing parent can do include downloading the children's
Disney MagicMobile passes (which can be shared once created), managing their
MagicBands and admission cards, and changing their My Disney Experience profile pictures.
Next, the parent that will be managing the children's plans in My Disney Experience should log into their
Family and Friends list in My Disney Experience and click "Add a Guest" at the bottom. It sounds like you will be entering your children's information for the first time, so you should select the "I'll Enter their name and age." Once you've entered their name and age and click "Done," they will appear on your Family and Friends list. That means you can select their names from a dropdown menu when
linking tickets, MagicBands, and more in My Disney Experience.
The next step is to make sure the children also appear on the non-managing parent's Family and Friends list. To do this, start by making sure your Family and Friends list is shared. Do this by once again accessing your
Family and Friends list. If the words "My list is shared" do not appear next to your name, click "Update" and "Share My List." Once you've confirmed that your Family and Friends list is shared, the non-managing partner should access their Family and Friends list and click "Add a Guest." Select "Find through my connected Guests" and the kids should automagically appear since they are connected to an adult whose list is shared. Select the name of each child and finally "Add Guest." The assumption here is that you and your spouse are already connected as Family and Friends. If not, please
connect with each other before trying to connect with the children.
Similar steps to connect can be made in the My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> scroll down to "My Profile" --> "Family and Friends List" tab). When recently taking these steps to connect my children to my husband's account, I made note that he had to restart his app in order for the children's names to appear.
I hope you find this information helpful, Lisa. Please don't hesitate to
reach out with follow-up questions.
Plan magic; planDisney.
