I am aware that Disney World has the key to the world cards. Does Disneyland have the same service? I am planning on going with my family in November 2022 and I would like to be prepared. Thank you!

    Hiya, Elizabeth!

Thank you for sending this Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR at planDisney!

Oh boy! I love grabbing a 'Key to the World' card as kind of a backup to my MagicBand at Walt Disney World Resort. These plastic cards are your hotel room key, theme park admission ticket, link to your Disney PhotoPass, and can even be used to charge items to the room. Plus they come in so many cute designs!

At this time, Disneyland Resort doesn't have all of these services connected in one convenient place the same way Walt Disney World does. This means that your theme park stuff will be separate from your Disneyland Resort Hotel room; you will be given a separate key card for your hotel room, however, there won't be a way to charge purchases to the credit card on file at your hotel. The good news is that the brand new MagicBand+, which will work at all of Mickey's U.S. Theme Parks, does connect to your My Disneyland Account and can serve as your Theme Park Admission Ticket, PhotoPass link, and scanner to check in for Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane return times. The Disneyland Mobile App will also be able to assist with the above, as well as place and charge both Mobile Food and Beverage Orders and Merchandise Mobile Checkout. It may not be a "Key to the World", but both the Disneyland Mobile App as well as a MagicBand+ can give you a pretty good "Lay of the Land." (The Disneyland, that is.)

Bonus Tip: If you save a Disney Gift Card to the mobile wallet of your smartphone or smartwatch, it will be able to be scanned directly from your device, which sort of feels the same as charging items to your band or card at Disney World.

I hope that this helped to clEAR up your question, Elizabeth! Be sure to follow the official planDisney Panel Instagram account for even more tips and tricks. And if you have any more Disneyland Resort vacation planning questions, We're All Ears!
