awaiting our presidents day week trip at CSR! DH and I will be at a conference 2/15 so grandparents will have our DD's (5 and 2)--not going to parks that day. Is downtown D. and then fantasia golf a good plan for them?transportation plan?other suggestions?

    Hi Kelly,

Coronado Springs Resort is a fabulous place to call "home" during your Disney vacation.  I had a great visit here this past December, and loved the newly refurbished rooms, beautiful pool area and both restaurants.

Downtown Disney is a wonderful place to spend part of a day that you don't intend to visit the theme parks.  It is filled with amazing dining and shopping options, including two that are especially popular with kids, Rainforest Cafe and TRex.  At Once Upon a Toy there are a number of interactive play areas where your girls can "test out" the merchandise!  Lego Imagination Center is another hot spot among kids, where they can spend time building their own creations while looking at some incredible, professionally built masterpieces.  There is also a small playground near the store.  Finally, Characters in Flight , one of Downtown Disney's newest attractions is a great option for your kids and parents.  Here, you board a giant tethered balloon that goes up 400 feet, and from which you can see an unbelievable 360 degree view of Walt Disney World.  My family just took our first flight this past week, and absolutely loved it!

Miniature golf is another fantastic way to spend a non-park day.  Fantasia Gardens located near the Swan and Dolphin Resort is my favorite course for young children. The course is inspired by Disney's classic film, and includes dancing hippos, marching broom sticks and colored water.

To get to Downtown Disney from Coronado Springs, take a bus directly from the resort.  Buses run continuously approximately every twenty minutes throughout the day.  To get to Fantasia, your parents and kids can take a bus to Hollywood Studios and transfer to a boat that exits at the Swan and Dolphin Resort.  They could also take a taxi (which would be quicker and a bit more direct) from Coronado.

I hope your kids and their grandparents have a wonderful day together!
