We are avid rope droppers and love to be at the park as early as possible! Will the Toy Story parking lot have a security check as soon as it opens when we go later this month?

Greetings, Addie! Thanks for visiting planDisney with your fantastic planning question!

Rope dropping at the Disneyland Resort is one of the best ways to maximize your day and to enjoy some shorter lines for attractions. For those unfamiliar, the term "rope drop" refers to arriving at the theme parks before or as close to the official park opening time as possible. When my kids were little, this was one of our favorite ways to start our day in the parks. Rope dropping also allows you utilize the Disney Genie+ service for Lightning Lane attractions to its full extent.

Now, Addie, to answer your question. Toy Story Parking Area does occasionally have a security checkpoint prior to boarding the shuttles at the parking area. However, this is usually reserved for the morning at peak times and not entirely predictable. If the security checkpoint is not open at the Toy Story Parking Area, you will be asked to go through the security checkpoint at the Disneyland Esplanade after being dropped off near the theme parks.

Regardless of where you go through security, I'm sure they will do their best to move everyone through quickly to allow for early morning memory making. If you are anything like my family, you will want to make the most of the early hours in the theme parks for PhotoPass pictures without the crowds!

Addie, have a most wonderful visit! See you real soon!
