    Joseph from NY Asked

What will be available after January 2022 for transportation to and from Disney resorts if Disney Magical Expess will no longer be running?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Joseph.

Yes, it is true that at the start of the new year the Magical Express service will no longer be available. This has left a lot of Guests, like yourself, wondering how they will get to and from the airport. I have several ideas for your Joseph, unfortunately, none of them are complimentary.

My personal preference, even when the Magical Express is being offered, is to use a ride-share service to and from the airport. I find that the prices are pretty reasonable and it actually gets you there in a timely manner. The two most popular ride-share services are pretty comparable in price but I like to check both before using one because sometimes one will be running a special or discount. I also like to use ride-share services to get around the Walt Disney World Resort. They are especially great to use when trying to get to an early morning breakfast reservation. If you aren't a fan of ride-share services, you can go the more traditional route and take a taxi. They'll pick you up and drop you off the same way a ride-share service would but might be just a little bit more expensive. I know some people aren't as comfortable using ride-share services so this is a great alternative.

Another option is to hire a car service to pick you up from the airport and then take you back at the end of the trip. A simple Google search will turn up many companies that you can hire. Car choices include a town car, SUV, passenger can and if you really want to arrive in style - even a limo! Of all of the options, I think this is going to be the most expensive choice. However, it's comfortable and will get you to where you want to go with ease.

Mears, the company that used to run the Magical Express, has also said they will be offering a paid-service to the Walt Disney World Resort from the airport. If you visit their website they have a coming soon page for this. You can actually sign up using your email address to be notified when new information becomes available about this service.

As you can see, you do have many alternatives to get to Walt Disney World for your vacation next year. You'll just need to budget a little bit of extra money for them. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Have a great day!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
