Greetings, Lori, and welcome to planDisney! Between the rides, shows, shopping, and exploring, you'll definitely want to power up with delicious treats and savory meals during your vacation. I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort for years while eating plant-based, so you've got a friend in me to help you figure out the food situation.
Lori, one of the easiest and quickest ways to avoid eggs is to look for the green leaf icon on printed menus – that means the item doesn't contain eggs, milk, or other animal products. You'll be surprised by how many things are clearly identified as such at the Disneyland Resort. My favorite treat in the whole wide world is the brownie with ice cream at Lamplight Lounge or Carnation Cafe. The Crème Brûlée Tart at Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans is also tasty. Of course,
Dole Whip is a fantastic treat in the summer. Since these are all plant-based, they should inherently be acceptable for anyone who doesn't eat eggs.
You also have many more options beyond that, though. Most table-service and some quick-service restaurants have a section within their digital menus that lists allergen-friendly options. You can check them out on the
Disneyland mobile app and the
Disneyland website. For example, at
Alien Pizza Planet, you can scroll to the "Egg-Allergy Friendly" section of the page to learn that options include pizza, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken or shrimp fusilli pasta, and more. At
Pym Test Kitchen, you can find options like giant pretzels, grilled cheese sandwiches, or chicken pasta. It's just a matter of browsing the menus for the locations you're interested in and making note of the spots that have good options for you. If you are placing a mobile order via the app, you should be able to order from the egg-friendly section of the menu, too.
Also, Lori, I have great news for breakfast: it is possible to get allergen-friendly Mickey waffles upon request at table-service restaurants that serve waffles, such as Carnation Cafe, Plaza Inn, and Storytellers Cafe. They happen to be vegan-friendly, so I've ordered them on numerous occasions! When making a reservation for a table-service restaurant, you can specify "egg" as something you want to avoid under "Dietary Requests." You should also
inform your server upon arrival. They will inform the kitchen to use the allergy request process, which involves a special diets-trained Cast Member. You can even ask if there is an allergen menu available.
I am constantly impressed at the care the Disneyland Resort puts into providing a variety of options for Guests when it comes to dietary needs. I was even able to indulge in a plant-based assortment of treats at the
World of Color Dessert Party! It was such an incredible experience to sit at a table with my family and enjoy an amazing view of the show with my own selection of delicious treats.
As Chef Remy said, "If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff." Luckily, there’s no shortage of fantastic dining options for everyone at the Disneyland Resort!
Lori, if you have any other questions ahead of your trip, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.
Your pal,
Kriss
