I have an autoimmune disease & can not eat way too many foods to list. Are there any accommodations for this & what paperwork should I bring?

    Hi, there!

Welcome to planDisney, Christina. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to hear you're planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

One of my favorite things to do on a Disney vacation is EAT. And with well over 300 dining locations in and out of the theme parks, there certainly is lots to choose from! I can understand how that could make you feel overwhelmed, especially given the many food-related limitations you have. Not to fret! The Walt Disney World Resort is very proud to meet the unique dietary needs of Guests, whether it be allergy-friendly or intolerance requests or special dietary requests. In most cases, no advance accommodations need to be made. You can simply ask to speak to the chef or a special-diets trained Cast Member at a quick-service or table-service location to chat about the foods you have to avoid. However, if you have more than 4 allergy-friendly requests, require pureed meals, or need to stick to a medically-restrictive diet, I encourage you to reach out to the Special Diets Team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com. A friendly Cast Member there will be happy to assist you! It is noted on the Special Dietary Requests page, though, that you not reach out any sooner than 14-days prior to your arrival.

As for paperwork, it's really only necessary to bring if you feel it would help you communicate your restrictions to a chef or special-diets trained Cast Member. Otherwise, you certainly don't need any proof of your dietary needs!

While you're counting down the months to your visit, take some time to peruse the online menus of the dining locations you're hoping to enjoy. If you have a general plan of where you'll be dining ahead of time, the Special Diets Team can better help you prepare for your visit when it's time to connect with them!

Did you know you can take your own food and beverages (non-alcoholic, of course) into the theme parks? It may be especially helpful to have some snacks on hand that are safe for you to eat.

I hope this was helpful, Christina. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! We'd love to help you plan a magical stay.
