Hi, we have an autistic son & have just told him about our upcoming trip to Disney so he can prepare himself. We don't go until October & he is already asking which hotel room number we are. Is there anyway we can request a room number early?

    Greetings, Kimberley!

Welcome to planDisney! Autumn is a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World Resort. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing, and there will be plenty of spooky treats and Mickey pumpkins throughout Magic Kingdom Park. It's one of my favorite times to visit.

Kimberley, this is such a great question. I know being prepared for a big adventure is a big deal! And I am so glad you and your Ohana are planning the details now, so you can enjoy the best trip ever. Some room requests, like near an elevator or on a higher floor, can be made online through your My Disney Experience account. When you start your online check-in, you will see a list of options available for your resort. If you have already completed your check-in, you can select the Update Check-in option to add this type of request. When it comes to a more specific request like a room number, you will need to call and speak to a friendly Cast Member. You will want to contact the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations line to have this noted. It is important to note that while Cast Members will do their best to accommodate requests, they are not guaranteed. I also recommend stopping by the front desk when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel to check on the status of this request. This way, if that specific room number is not available, you have a little time to start preparing your son for the room number assigned.

Before you arrive, I also recommend spending some time exploring all the ways Walt Disney World Resort can help make this adventure magical for your son. A member of my travel party has utilized several of these guides and services over the years, and it has been incredibly helpful! Knowing which attractions may be too loud, or where to take a break ahead of time, made a world of difference.

I hope your upcoming adventure is magical!
