Hi Cathy! Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! I'm so glad that you and your son had a positive experience during your last visit!
My nephew has Sensory Processing Disorder and also has sensitivity to sounds, so I can relate to your situation.
I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Bring a doctor's note to Guest Relations at any of the theme parks, along with your son, and ask for a Guest Assistance Card (GAC.) Explain any special assistance that will be needed, for example, explain that your son has sensitivity to loud noises. This will help, as a Cast Member will be able to help you enter an attraction using a special entrance in case your son is having difficulty waiting in a long line or having sensitivity to the loud noises or bright lights.
2. There is a great view of
Illuminations from
Disney's Boardwalk Resort. You can grab some salt water taffy from Seashore Sweets and walk along the boardwalk while enjoying the view without the loud noise.
3. Many other parents have shared that bringing a pair of earplugs from home as worked wonders with allowing their child to experience certain attractions without being bothered by the loud noise.
4. You can have your son participate in one of the KidCot stations within the World Showcase during the fireworks show. The distraction may help him.
In regards to the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, it is a lot of fun, but it is very loud. The finale in particular can be quite loud.
Please let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with!
Magically,
Stacy
